Mirka Janeckova
Mirka specialises in the ancient techniques of Lost Wax Carving and Sculpting and in using nontraditional materials in jewellery such as porcelain or glass. After graduating from Glasgow School of Art and then Royal College of Art, she set up her studio and jewellery school in Edinburgh.
Her practice is based on interdisciplinary research – working across the disciplines of jewellery, metal, glass and ceramics. She works experimentally and her aim is to broaden our perception of what materials can be used for. She likes to develop innovative techniques which then allow her to produce visually unique work inspired by deep sea aesthetics.
