Caitlin Hegney
Caitlin Hegney is a Scottish jeweller who celebrates Ancient Heritage in her work, exploring rhythmic markings in metal and reclaimed wood. Caitlin is fascinated by the communicative value of lines and how their ambiguity transcends and resonates with humanity. Caitlin’s practice energises traditional metalworking and woodworking techniques. She hammers into metal with hand forged tools and draws with wire. Wood is carved and dyed to celebrate the inherent rhythmic wood grain. Caitlin’s practice is driven by the unpredictability of process; the shade of dyed wood or quality of line in metal takes on its own personality in a sequence.
