Iona Hall

Iona Hall focuses on box making and textural work in silver. Her passion for box making stems from the intimacy it has with the viewer. The exterior surface of the box first attracts the viewer, but it is possible to add a secret dialogue concealed in the interior. An abstracted theme of local coastlines connects the pieces, recreating the feeling of discovery on the beach. She’s drawn to textures and irregular patterns in natural forms, using techniques such as chasing and repousse to recreate these in her work. Her jewellery isolates areas of her designs, creating wearable adaptations of her boxes.
