Stefanie Cheong’s work is underpinned by ethical making that considers process, business practices and materials use. She works predominantly in Fairtrade and recycled metals paired with rock. Geology plays an important role in establishing the history of the Earth—rocks are used to help us explore the evolution of our environment and living creatures. Stefanie’s current work showcases Scottish rock that she collects and transforms into jewellery and art objects exploring the connections to place and time. Using traditional stone cutting techniques with a contemporary aesthetic her designs are often interchangeable with elements that encourage the wearer to consider sustainable design.
