Kinley Jewellery, by Laura Williams, explores the use of wire to create pattern and sculptural forms. In her Grid collection, she subverts convention turns the wire on its end so that the cross section of the wires form new surfaces. The Line collection used the lengths of wire to create form from negative space. The work offers exciting contrasts, a very contemporary urban finish on a background of classical jewellery shapes, the colours and textures of 18 carat gold against oxidised silver, filled and negative space, and a tension between something sensuous and beautiful with something urban and raw.
