Romany Starrs’ work examines the connection between colour and shape. Drawing influences from industrial structures found in her Glasgow surroundings, she enjoys building a single element together at the bench to bridge the connection between machine and handmade processes.
Consciously employing both traditional and modern practises, it's important to Romany that modern technologies do not replace her traditional hand-making and stone setting skills where she draws most of her inspiration. Over recent years, she has made considered changes to her approach in sourcing materials and is now a registered Fair Trade Goldsmith using gemstones from suppliers who operate responsible mining policies.
