Soizig Carey is an artist and designer-maker specialising in contemporary jewellery. Using casting, engraving, embossing and riveting processes, she creates precious metal forms which can be worn or serve as meaningful and playful objects. She is especially drawn towards creating modernist and long-lasting pieces. Soizig regularly recycles and re-makes heirlooms, modernising symbolic pieces.
Her practice is rooted in slow design and making, feminism and anti-capitalist consumer culture. She is acutely conscious of the impact fashion and mining industries have on human labour, supply chains and the environment. Soizig is committed to ethical and sustainable sourcing of materials.
