Purple Rock Earrings by Alice Fry

The moment I saw these earrings I fell in love with them. I appreciated their intense colouration; the contrast of the very textural surface and the smooth facets; and the imaginative thoughts they led to about the nature that surely must have inspired them. But then, after discussing them with Alice, my appreciation of them soared even higher when she explained to me her process of creating them out of one flat sheet of the extraordinary metal niobium.

Dark Gleam Diamond Bangle by Agneta Bugyte

Hearing Agneta describe her work to me as “quiet luxury” really resonated in my mind; what is luxurious about it is the level of craftsmanship and the very discreet mix of metals. Like all her pieces this bangle is such an extraordinary example of the maker’s meticulous, very time consuming handwrought process coupled with such a striking combination of materials. I love the very oxidized, naturalistic surface of this bracelet and the way it is studded with the purity of white gold grains and sparkling diamonds.

Blue & Gold Enamel Link Necklace

Emily’s signature patterns in the surface design of her work are unique and subtly reminiscent of the beehives and honeycombs on the family property where she was raised. I love the unpredictability of the lines she draws, and the pattern and colour variation from one link in this necklace to another. I love the very sleek rectangular form in this necklace and how it presents such a contemporary take on the very difficult skill of enamelling.

Blue Blossoms Necklace by Francesca Marcenaro

In my decades long career I have never seen anyone utilizing glass granulation, so I really loved the originality of Francesca’s body of work as soon as I discovered it several years ago. Her simple shapes in silver provide a perfect background for the bursts of tiny pastel, silver, and golden glass beads that brilliantly decorate these surfaces. This necklace that I love so much has such an innovative, modern elegance to it.

Singularity III Brooch by Michelle Currie

To me Michelle’s work is like a still life that captures motion and explosion in our universe. I love the feeling of spontaneity and energy in her work. She is a master of not just jewelry making, but also of understanding complex concepts of physics and materials. Surely no other contemporary jeweller has tackled using iron sand and iron oxide in their work. This brooch series is an absolute masterpiece.

Please note that this brooch is one-of-a-kind and has now sold. Brooches from the same series can be found via the Shop Now link below.
