Colleges Feature: Edinburgh College of Art

We are thrilled to welcome Scotland’s Art Colleges back to Edinburgh for Elements: Festival of Jewellery, Silver and Gold. Elements will provide graduates of Scotland’s Art Colleges with an opportunity to exhibit and sell pieces of contemporary jewellery and silver to the Element audience.

Jewellery & Silversmithing at Edinburgh College of Art is a 4-year studio based programme teach students to design and make fresh, exuberant work demonstrating originality and innovation. The department philosophy encourages a wide range of approaches, from traditional Gold and Silversmiths’ trade to contemporary influences of art, craft, design, product, fashion, technology and science to contribute towards the ever-evolving creative industries.

Courses making up the programme cover all fundamental skills of the discipline using a wide variety of materials. The department puts emphasis on integrating professional practice teaching throughout the programme and offers engagement with industry through placements, live projects and competitions.
